Adjustment of status

Adjustment of status lets an eligible person become a permanent resident without leaving the United States. It is filed on Form I-485, often together with a work permit and travel document request.

Who we help

  • Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens: spouses, parents, and unmarried children under 21
  • Family preference beneficiaries whose priority date is current
  • People changing from a nonimmigrant visa such as E-2, J-1, F-1 or H-1B
  • Applicants who need help with an RFE or interview notice

How we handle it

  1. Eligibility review

We check admission records, status violations, prior applications and any bars before anything is filed.

  2. Package preparation

We prepare the I-485 with the supporting forms that apply to you, including the medical exam (I-693) and Affidavit of Support (I-864).

  3. Biometrics and work permit

After filing you attend a biometrics appointment. A pending I-485 lets you request employment and travel authorization.

  4. Mock interview

We run a practice interview so you know the format and the questions before the real one.

  5. Approval

We review the approval notice and card for errors and explain what your new status allows.

What clients say

I worked with Mr. Anik for my AOS process. The mock interview was really helpful and made us way more confident and relax on the real one. I definitely recommend him. We'll work with him for my further immigration process for my family.

Deniz K. Google review,

I hired Volkan Anik to help me with my Adjustment of Status (Green Card) Application through marriage. He was fast, honest and reliable through the entire process and now thanks to him I am a permanent resident in USA. The process of immigration is normally very confusing and will give you a headache but thanks to Volkan Anik I didn't need to worry about this at all, all I had to do was to provide him the necessary info he needed and he took care of the rest. This long lasting, painful process was a breeze thanks to him. He is also very reasonably priced and flexible in terms of payment. I would recommend Volkan Anik to anyone who needs an Immigration Attorney. Cannot wait to hire him again, when it is time for Citizenship. Edit:I also worked with Mr. Anik for my 10 year GC application. He was professional, patient and understanding through out the entire process. Thanks to him now I am also on track to become US Citizen in just matter of months. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He will get the job done. 😉

Common questions

Can I travel while my I-485 is pending?

Leaving the U.S. without an approved advance parole document (Form I-131) usually abandons a pending I-485. Some H and L visa holders are exceptions. Ask before you book travel.

Can I work while my case is pending?

You can request an employment authorization document (EAD) with Form I-765 when you file the I-485, and work once it is approved.

Where do I check the filing fee?

USCIS sets and changes filing fees. We confirm the current fee at uscis.gov/fees before filing.
